ROLLING HILLS RADIO, WRFA & NPR LOVE PHOEBE LEGERE

PHOEBE LEGERE played to a standing room only crowd this weekend at SHAWBUCKS in Western, NY while the cameras rolled and NPR mics captured every word and melodious guitar chord for their audiences listening at home and elsewhere.

NPR broadcast the event LIVE and will continue to play the show for listeners throughout the next week. TV broadcasts will offer Phoebe's show this upcoming week culminating in special programming on Sunday.

The performer played her original songs on a Martin Guitar to a spellbound audience. Phoebe occasionally picked up her accordion for the roaring crowd. 

Phoebe Legere is the Voice of the Wilderness. Phoebe honors the values of farmers, fisherman and other great American workers, craftsman and makers throughout our great land.

The musician-composer-artist reached #18 on the Americana Charts with her latest album HEART OF LOVE.

Phoebe Legere is a musician, a poet and an artist, combining multiple art forms in her performances and videos. She had her Carnegie Hall debut and was signed to Epic Records when she was 16. Her original song Marilyn Monroe was a hit on college radio in 1990, and her accordion song Amazing Love was in the Top 40 on Adult Contemporary in 1997. Legere has starred in independent cult films including Mondo New York and Toxic Avenger 2 and 3. She opened forDavid Bowie on his national tour in 1991, and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in music in 2000. In 2002 her musical work about Queen Weetamoo, her Native American ancestor, won the New York State Council of the Arts grant. In 2014 she received the prestigious Acker Award for Excellence in the Avant Garde. 

Legere has released fifteen CDs of original music, and has appeared onNational Public Radio, CBS Sunday Morning, PBS City Arts, and Charlie Rose. She has sung at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and at the Congres Mondial Acadian. Legere was featured singing her original song “Hip Hop Frog” on HBO March 23rd. Her CD Acadian Moon with her cousin Ray Legere was played on 40 college stations in Canada. Her recent musical Shakespeare and Elizabeth ran for 3 sold out weeks Off Broadway.

The New York Times raved: “Legere plays the piano with enormous authority in a style that encompasses Chopin, blues, ragtime, bebop and beyond, and she brings to her vocal delivery a four octave range, and an extraordinary palette of tonal color and meticulous phrasing.”
