"Festival de la Posibilidad" Is A Hit Say Community Parents & Children

The Foundation for New American Art nonprofit has been flooded with calls, emails and texts from parents and community members wanting to know if the "Festival de la Posibilidad" will be repeated next summer! Congratulations to Phoebe Legere, Executive Director, of the arts education organization and to the National Endowment for the Arts that gave a "Challenge America" grant to the Foundation to help sponsor the event.

Focusing on cultural diversity in the neighborhood, the Saturday night, July 16, concert featured dozens of artists hailing from countries with a rich heritage reflecting in both the 3rd and 7th Congressional Districts in New York City.

Phoebe Songbundle welcomes the audience with a 10,000 year old #Abenaki Kwai Kwai song on Cedar Flute. Note Abenaki mocs handbeaded. I'll be teaching an arts workshop called "Flowing with the Abenaki" at Winter Harbor Schoodic Festival of the Arts on July 27 from 1-4. We still have a few places left. I'll show how to use our symbols, derived from the characteristic movements of fluids & morphologies of living forms for abstract and representational work. The workshop is held in sight of Winter Harbor = Paradise. Dm me for more info. Schoodic Institute photo: William William S. Niederkorn

Maria Raquel opened the show. We've never heard such beautiful music! She is a great great singer and superb tradition bearer from beautiful #Medellin, #Columbia.photo: William William S. Niederkorn The sound was mixed by Mr. Kitty (Brian Park) from The Color Wheel.

Tamir from Inner Tamir Mongolia taught us many many things. Here he is making the most exquisite sounds! photo: William William S. Niederkorn

"We made movies both days Salieu Suso my beautiful friend. We'll have much better photos and movies soon! I have to do some book keeping and communication and organization right now. This was taken by my friend William William S. Niederkorn! THANK YOU THANK YOU!, " said Phoebe Legere.

The Children's Mural was a big hit! Miguel Juarena puts his heart into Blue. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos! And a big THANK YOU To Materials for the Arts for donating much needed art supplies for the Festival for the children to use to express their creativity, their hope and their dreams.

Materials for the Arts is New York City's premier creative reuse center, which provides NYC arts nonprofits, public schools and City agencies with access to free materials.
