Foundation For New American Art: Bringing Cultural Equity to Underserved Children

Foundation for New American Art is an arts education nonprofit dedicated to bringing art, music, dance and theater to underserved children attending public schools where the budgets for arts programs have been drastically cut or eliminated. The National Endowment for the Arts awarded Foundation for New American Art a grant to expand their work to the Poughkeepsie, New York area and wonderful developments are blooming in Dutchess County!

Phoebe Legere, founder and executive director of the Foundation for New American Art, has created a multidisciplinary program for children that features art, music, science, dance, theater and tech to activate young creative minds and keep them motivated. The program, Paint Brushes Not Guns, has been taking place at 488 Main St. in downtown Poughkeepsie, NY. Phoebe Legere's "Main Street Maestros" are thriving!
