Fundraiser Today For Foundation for New American Art: Bringing Art/Music/Dance/Theater To Children

The Foundation for New American Art, a nonprofit charity dedicated to bringing art and music to children in low-income, immigrant, and high-need underserved communities, is hosting a special virtual event as part of Hudson Valley Gives on May 15, 2024.

The event will be live-streamed on Instagram from 3 pm to 5 pm and aims
to raise crucial funds to continue our one-of-a-kind, multi-city,
multidisciplinary, and multilingual programs.

Hudson Valley Gives is the largest fundraising day in the Mid-Hudson
area, and we are thrilled to participate with a virtual fundraiser
showcasing the incredible talents of our program's children. The event
will be broadcast live on our Instagram page at

www.instagram.com/foundationfornewamericanart from 488 Main St. in
Poughkeepsie.

During the event, viewers will be treated to a special performance on a
newly donated Steinway piano from Vassar College, alongside performances
by the children in our program, including singing, performance art, and
other creative showcases. This event will highlight how our children use
their emotions and intellect to create remarkable art, providing a
glimpse into the transformative power of our programs.

We will be accepting donations throughout the month of May, with a
special focus on May 15th through our Hudson Valley Gives website. Your
generous contributions will support our flagship initiative, Paint
Brushes Not Guns: A FREE Multidisciplinary Afterschool Arts Odyssey.

This strategic initiative addresses urban violence in under-resourced
communities through the transformative potential of the arts. Guided by
Master Artists dedicated to social impact, our program offers immersive
art education, performances, workshops, and collaborative art sessions
to foster community resilience and promote social cohesion.

Our initiative targets low-income populations with little or no access
to arts education, aiming to sow peace and harmony in communities
affected by crime and drug addiction. By celebrating creative genius and
nurturing future visionary artists, Paint Brushes Not Guns demonstrates
the power of art to transcend societal divides and catalyze positive
change.

The program is bilingual and welcomes caregivers of all ages,
celebrating global cultures while encouraging original and visionary
creative expressions from our youth.

We are honored to partner with prestigious institutions like Vassar
College, SUNY New Paltz, NYU, Juilliard, and Harvard University. Our
work is supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts,
New York State Council on the Arts, and the NYC Department of Cultural
Affairs.

Locally, we are proud to collaborate with Hudson River Housing to
provide free afterschool cultural and language education in Dutchess
County.

Looking ahead, our legendary NYC Festival of Possibilities will be
coming to Poughkeepsie in 2025, further expanding our reach and impact.

Join us on May 15th, support our cause, and help us bring the
transformative power of art to more children in need. Thank you for your
generous donations and continued support.
